Ich habe mich sehr gefreut, dass ein neues Buch von der Autorin herauskam und freiwillig den relativ hohen Neuerscheinungspreis bezahlt, um es unverzüglich zu lesen und zu hören. Es hat sich gelohnt! Es stimmt, was hier jemand geschrieben hat, es erinnert an den Spass, den die Bücher der Autorin vor der Shopaholic Serie, die mir nicht gefällt, machten. Ich mochte Fixie, die Hauptperson. Auch ihre Beziehung zu den teilweise nervigen Geschwistern wird anschaulich beschrieben. Teilweise habe ich laut herausgelacht, weil witzige Dinge passierten (z.B. die Sache mit der halben Frisur...). Insgesamt keine völlig neuartige oder aufregende Geschichte, aber genau das, wonach ich für gemütliches, erbauliches Lesen suche. Meine Lektüren der letzten Wochen davor waren ein Reinfall nach dem nächsten gewesen (andere Autoren) und ich hatte schon die Hoffnung aufgegeben, mal wieder ein wirklich zufriedenstellendes Buch zu finden. Ein Glück, es gibt doch noch mehr Gescheites zu hören und zu lesen:-). Ich muss allerdings sagen, dass die Liebesgeschichte mich nicht voll und ganz überzeugt hat. Es wirkte auf mich etwas lahm mit den beiden. Aber trotzdem von mir 5 Sterne, habe das Buch zügig als Hörbuch gehört und wirklich genossen! Die Sprecherin liest übrigens angenehm vor und verleiht Text durch ihre Betonung usw. noch mehr Lebendigkeit. Habe das Buch auch schon mehrfach im Freundeskreis empfohlen.

The writing is good and, in my opinion, a few levels above many other rom coms.However, I did not enjoy the story itself. Other reviewers have described the main character as a push-over, but I'd say she's even worse than that. She's so anxious for approval by people she deems important that she treats people who are nice and good to her quite appalingly.In addiditon, the moral views in this book were sometimes hard to bear. While some characters are clearly meant to be "bad guys", other characters who behave in quite a questionable manner never get called out for it. For example, the mother is supposedly flawless and great overall, so her own dubious business choices, and what I felt was a considerate amount of sexism towards her daughter, remain undiscussed.

Vorweg: Ich liebe Sophie Kinsella und habe ihre Bücher immer verschlungen, aber dieses hier ist super enttäuschend. Es fehlt die Spritzigkeit, der Humor und die Leichtigkeit. Die Geschichte ist zäh und zieht sich ellenlang daher. Die Hauptperson nervt einfach nur und alles andere ist so vorhersehbar. Fazit: Langweilig, langweilig, langweilig

Anfangs ist das Buch echt zäh, mir waren zu viele belanglose Dialoge und man fragt sich, was es soll und wo es hinführt. Habe mich durch gequält und paar mal mit dem Gedanken gespielt, es nicht weiter zu lesen. Daher kann ich auch manche Rezensionen hier verstehen. Ich habe aber durch gehalten und nach dem ersten Drittel wurde ich belohnt. Kinsella findet zur alten Form zurück, ich habe habe gelacht, mitgefiebert und mitgefühlt mit der Protagonistin. Einfach toll, wie die Figur sich bis zum Schluss entwickelt und ein schönes Ende. Da der Anfang echt nervtötend war, gebe ich nur 4 Sterne, nachdem *Achtung Spoiler* die Mutter verreist ist, wird das Buch einfach nur gut und macht Spaß, zu lesen, sonst hätte ich 5 Sterne vergeben.

Ich hatte schon anhand der anderen Rezensionen erwartet, dass das erste Drittel des Buchs eher zäh ist...leider wurde es auch nicht besser. Die Geschichte war total vorhersehbar. Es gab sogar 2 Dinge, die ich fast genauso schon in anderen Büchern gelesen hatte, sehr unorigenell. Das Buch hat mich kein einziges Mal zum Lachen gebracht, da war das letzte viel lustiger. Ich hatte auch den Eindruck, der Autorin fällt nichts neues mehr ein. Drei Sterne gebe ich, weil sich Sophie Kinsella immer gut lesen lässt und das richtige zum Abschalten ist. Das erfüllt auch dieses Buch, daher kann man es lesen.

Das Buch ist am Anfang etwas zäh und man hat das Gefühl, dass es ganz klar ist, wie sich die Story entwickeln wird. Dann aber findet Kinsella zu ihrer alten Höchstform zurück und man kann das Buch kaum mehr aus der Hand legen. Ein Stern Abzuzg für den Anfang... sonst klare Empfehlung!

I am/was a big Kinsella fan. However this book is awful. It is so not worth the read one thinks she might need the money. Definitely not the quality expected an appears to trade on past glory. Not worth 15 euro

I only read 40% of the book on my kindle and was struggling over an hour before on whether actually going ahead reading it, since it is just a very annoying story and main characters. Sorry, this was not for me.
